Welcome to Class K101's Web Page

“What a great beginning to the school year already! Thank you to all of the parents for making the transition into Kindergarten so smooth! We are getting to know each other well and are learning so much about our families. We fooled several parents with our puppets at Back To School Night. We have met several times with our 5th Grade book buddies in Mr. G's class. We have become experts doing our jobs. Eli has taken over our morning meeting these past few weeks so well, that Miss Stone wasn't even needed! We have had a few lost teeth and we had our big September b-day celebration!
October
We have begun to work on our first books. We are writing books about our families! Stay tuned to find out when we will have our first publishing party. Yesterday, we began a special program that will take us throughout the year. We are going to be working across the street in the West Side Community Garden once a week with, "The Garden Lady." So far, we took a tour of the Garden and learned about different ways to care for growing things. We were introduced to the compost pile and got to take home a variety of plants and vegetables. We will eventually plant our own goodies and then get to harvest them in the Spring! Look for the note next week about our Halloween party
October 25 , some of our kids did an AMAZING job learning something VERY important! Mr. G's class came down to our room. We paired up with our Reading Buddies to start learning how to tie our shoes!!! It was the beginning step for a terrific "How To" book that we will write together. Our Fifth Grade friends really did a great job teaching us how to tie! Some of us actually did it all by ourselves!!! See Mr. G's section om the Flyer to read more about our special meeting. We will continue with this next week as well. Do not forget that Monday is our first class trip. We are going to see, "The Lumpy Bumpy Pumpkin" at The Shadowbox Theater in Brooklyn. We WILL NEED A LUNCH ON MONDAYsince we will won't be back on time for our lunch period. Please remember to
bring one in. Thanks!
Stay tuned for Miss Stone's monthly newsletter including some very exciting upcoming trips!
Exciting things coming soon!!
