Dear Parents:

I am pleased to announce that our "Education Through Music" Program is now in place, and is enriching all classes throughout the school. This wonderful program, that services PreK-Grade 5 in such diverse artistic disciplines as Eurythmics (PreK-1), Keyboard Lab (2nd grade) and Chorus (3-5) is funded by a generous grant that I have received from one of our "Principals For A Day", on behalf of P. S. 166, the Manhattan School Of Arts & Technology.

PreK-1st Grade Classes will attend weekly Eurythmics sessions with Erika Podoprigora, and Carol Emmanuel. These classes will consist of small group sessions (1/2 class at a time) and will be held in our beautiful new fifth floor dance studio. Please be advised that your children will be asked to remove shoes and socks while in the Dance Studio.

All second graders will take part in "The Yamaha Keyboard Piano Lab" program under the direction of trained instructor and Yamaha clinician Phil Arnold. The children will attend two workshops a week in our fifth floor Music Workshop space.

All classes in grades 3-5 will train individually as a class for the Upper Grade Chorus under the direction of Jeryl Cunningham. Ms. Cunningham, who was previously Associate Conductor of the "Boys Choir Of Harlem", and the Conductor of "The Girls Choir of Harlem" will also direct the middle and upper grades honor chorus. This continues our strong tradition of choral work at P. S. 166. Her work will of course be coordinated with our school’s Music Teacher and Band Director, Gradys Rogers.

I know your children will enjoy and appreciate all these classes, and we hope you will be able to see them for yourself during Open School Week, November 16 -20.

Sincerely,

Jack Regan, Principal
