PS 166 PTA Nutrition Committee

Mission

There is a Central Board mandate which specifies that all schools, from the elementary level to high school must have this committee in place. This committee comprises parents, students, school administration and cafeteria personnel and their supervisor. This committee's purpose is to:

  • advise and recommend changes in policy concerning food service and conditions within the lunchroom including but not limited to food service
  • become familiar with all aspects of the food programs and the kitchen and lunchroom facilities of the school
  • regularly monitor the food programs and act on the findings
  • recommend the type of service offered
  • review and revise the menu pattern
  • report information, problems, progress, etc. to the PTA
  • insure that children have a pleasant environment within which to eat.
